Climbing to Yucca Mtn. And a view of jackass flat
Happy New Year Everyone!
In the episode below, I climb up to an often overlooked area of (supposedly) public land near the Yucca Mountain Nuclear Waste Repository. I was essentially able to get right on top of the (empty and unused) underground facility, with the top being adorned with many signs warning of below ground radioactive material.
The ridge line also provided some spectacular views into the restricted area, particularly the region known as Jackass Flats within Area 25 which was home to Project NERVA. This was a program to develop and test nuclear powered rocket engines during the 60s until it was canned in 1973.
